The expertise of a true sailmaking workshop

Mobuline didn't appear out of thin air. It builds on the foundation of Key-Doek, a sailmaking workshop established in 1987. More than 30 years of expertise have been brought together into a refined, high-end solution.
30 years of experience

Over the past three decades, Key-Doek has become a trusted name in Limburg. During that time, the world of shade covers has steadily evolved. The rise of standard, off-the-shelf solutions pushed Key-Doek to keep innovating. The result: in 2017, the first lightweight sail canopy was introduced. These canopies are precisely tensioned and pre-shaped using advanced membrane technology. This technology marked a clear shift in how sail fabrics are designed and applied.

True tensioning

For years, canvases were tensioned largely by feel—simply tightening until the canvas appeared taut. But at a micro level, this disrupts the alignment of the fibres. These fibres are woven in a structured, grid-like pattern for a reason: it's what gives the material its strength. Random or uneven tensioning compromises both durability and performance over time.

3D engineering

The complexity of creating a 3D shape lies in the fact that it is cut on a 2D table. The designed form must be translated into flat patterns so the panels can be cut. At this early stage in the process, careful consideration is already given to how the material behaves in relation to the fibre pattern. External forces such as wind and precipitation are also taken into account. These panels are then handcrafted and finished with Dyneema reinforcement. Even before the canvas is produced, we already understand how forces will be distributed across the textile.

A new company

For the past five years, we've been delivering custom-designed canopies across the Benelux. In recent years, demand for these specialised sail canopies has grown significantly. Advances in our production process led us to establish Mobuline in 2022—a standalone company built on the trusted service and quality developed over decades. The two companies continue to work closely together: Key-Doek focuses primarily on Limburg, while Mobuline operates throughout the Benelux.

A bright future

In the years ahead, both companies aim to become recognised names nationwide. The hallmark service of Key-Doek sets the standard for Mobuline's approach. Thanks to the flexibility of sail canopies, we can create a tailored solution for virtually any location. Combined with premium materials, this results in a high-quality, visually striking outcome. From start to finish, you will be kept closely involved, with your preferences guiding the process. We look forward to what lies ahead.

Under the canopy, a different rhythm emerges. The shade moves with the day. The terrace stays cooler and more inviting for longer. Not enclosed, but seamlessly connected to the surrounding outdoor space.
